What is Harm Reduction?

Harm reduction is an integral part of health promotion and illness prevention and has been shown to produce many positive health outcomes for individuals and communities.  Harm reduction focuses on improving public health and safety and reduces the stigma and discrimination associated with drug use. 

Program and Services:

  • Outdoor Needle Drop Box available at 2398 Yonge Street location, to provide a safe and convenient way for people to dispose of used sharps in the community.
  • Access to harm reduction supplies and safer drug use kits (stem kits, crystal kits, foil kits, injection kits).  Drop in program to pick up take home kits for safer drug use, safer sex supplies and naloxone kits.
  • Naloxone (intranasal) available, Vibrant staff on site to provide training and education on how to administer/use naloxone.  Naloxone reverses the effects of opioids including heroin, fentanyl, morphine, methadone, codeine, oxycodone and many others.
  • Education, resources, referrals, safer drug use kits and needle exchange available.
  • This service is anonymous, open to anyone to pick up take home kits for safer drug use, safer sex supplies and naloxone kits.
